SWASWARA

Listen to your inner voice

SOUTH INDIA - GOKARNA

SwaSwara is located on the western coast of India, popularly known as the ‘Konkan’ coast in the state of Karnataka in South India. Set a little away from the village of Gokarna, nestling amidst rolling hills and lined by serene coconut palms are 24 villas inspired by the homesteads, tradition and craft of the Uttara Karnataka region.

We live unaware of the inner sound of our being, drowned out as it is, by the din of daily life. Only when everything else quiets down and we are at peace can we hear it. That's why we've made sure, that the shouts of the modern world die down to whispers, at SwaSwara. The inner voice of the Self. That echoes on a fabled beach, shaped like the very first sound of creation, Om. A perfect setting, for communion of mind and body. Come, say hello to the song and celebration within you.

IT'S NOT JUST WHAT YOU EAT, ITS HOW YOU EAT

"It's not just what you eat, its how you eat. Chew slowly, savouring every bite. We tend to rush though our meals, forgetting to actually taste the flavors and feel the textures of our food. Take time to reconnect with the joy of eating." Chef Gireesh

Nourishment at SwaSwara begins somewhere deep inside the soul and goes beyond the confines of the kitchen. Swaswara chefs gently pamper your senses with natural foods grown in harmony with nature, and ripened naturally. Lightly tossed, delicately spiced Indian cuisine, inspired by global flavours will appease body and soul and the delights of a drumstick dill soup or a Meen Thambuli have to be savored to be expressed. Sedentary life styles, wrong food habits, improper breathing, reduced water intake and use of preserved food would have caused free radicals to attack the body, which start a chain reaction causing poor cell function and disease.

Swaswara cuisine adheres to the principles of Yoga, Naturopathy and Ayurveda. Freshness, simplicity and a balance between raw and cooked food, right quantities and textures, will empower you with nutrition and better digestion while Yogic practice will bestow the art of eating mindfully, leading to greater fulfillment. They say partaking of a diet such as this, helps in the development of ‘prana’ or vital energy and spiritual consciousness.

Spend a morning with us at the Thursday farmer’s market and you can absorb the sights and sounds of the local village or perhaps pluck vegetables from our garden and join Chef Joy to create the menu for the day. Vegetables from Swaswara farm and fresh seafood define the nourishment plan here.  Meats and hard liquor do not feature in the diet at SwaSwara. If you live a vegan or gluten free lifestyle, your preference will find innovative expression here. A guest on a ‘Prana’, ‘Shanti’ or ‘Swastha’ programme would follow a diet plan customised as per the directions of the doctor/naturopath.

SwaSwara morning welcomed with meditation and Yoga will awaken your palate, prodding you with a new found inquisitiveness and all the answers await you at Cocum, the restaurant at the resort.
